Obituary of Barbara L. Checkosky

Barbara “Babs” Checkosky, 70, departed this life on June 30, 2017 due to a seizure. She was a life long resident of the Camillus/ Syracuse area and the owner of Morgan’s Restaurant for 34 years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her mother, Eileen Wykes, two children, Leslie (Kowall) Davis, Matthew Checkosky, their father, Thomas L. Checkosky, two brothers, Richard and John Wykes, sister, Diane (Ray) Tyska, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her grandchildren, John, Mark and Will Davis were her angels that filled her heart and soul with love. They made her world a little softer, a little kinder, and a ton warmer. They completed her life’s circle of love. Her four legged best friend and utterly devoted Toby who lied beside her as she passed away. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10am at St. Patrick’s Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave. Calling hours will be on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Elmcrest Children’s Center in care of Colleen Hedges; 960 Salt Springs Road, Syracuse, NY 13224.
