Obituary of Edward A. Hewitt
Edward “Ned” A. Hewitt, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Ned was born on February 4, 1950 in Syracuse to the late Edward P. and Mary Alice (Petta) Hewitt. He attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from Central Tech. He was a friend of Bill W. He retired from the Onondaga County Water Dept. where he worked as a mechanic for the Sheriff’s Department.
Ned enjoyed tinkering with cars, fixing things, and racing. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his beautiful grandchildren, family and friends.
Ned is survived by his wife, Kate and his daughter Eliza (Mike) Widger and his seven grandchildren Amiya, Angelina, Achilles, Apollo, Atlas, Artemus and Aurora, who they lovingly called “Grandpa Tootie,” his siblings, Kathleen (Cliff) Yackel, Christine (Carlos) Lloreda, Patricia (Marty) Shiel, Loretta Coffey, Carol (William) Burns, Margaret (Jim) Mueller, Ellen (Charles) Rivera, Annmarie Hewitt, and finally a brother, John Hewitt along with several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10am at St. Patrick’s Church, 214 N. Lowell Ave. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. There will be a private spring burial.
Donations may be made to an animal charity of your choice or St. Patrick- St. Brigid’s Food Pantry.
