Obituary of Robert W. Sullivan
Robert W. Sullivan, 93, of Charlotte St., Syracuse, passed away February 24, 2018.
Robert was born and raised in Syracuse and was a graduate of Vocational High School. He was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Army Air Corps in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of war. Robert retired in 1980 after 25 years with the Syracuse Fire Dept, Engine 5. While serving as a firefighter he was a recipient of the Hendricks Memorial Medal. He enjoyed flying and built his own plane. He held a pilot’s license with the ratings of commercial and instrument instructor. Robert was also an avid bass fisherman. He enjoyed fishing at Stillwater Reservoir which was close to his Beaver River Adirondack Camp that he built by hand. He was also a member of the American Legion and a communicant of St. Brigid & St. Joseph Church.
Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Ed and Bart, and his sister, Viola Slade. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Monday March 5, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Church on Lowell Ave. Calling hour will be held on Sunday March 4, 2018 from 3-4pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
