Obituary of Matthew T. Checkosky

Matthew Thomas Checkosky, 37, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on November 30, 2019 with his father and sister by his side.

 

He was loved by all who knew him. His contagious smile and warm heart will never be forgotten.  Matthew attended West Hill High School, Student Representative to Board of Directors at OCC, and American University. He was passionate about SU Football and Basketball, politics, steak dinners, Old Forge, Lake George, his nephews and all his family and friends.

 

Matthew is survived by his father, Thomas Checkosky (Jewell), sister, Leslie Kowall Davis, nephews, Jack, Mark, and Will Davis, grandmother Eileen Wykes, many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Matthew was predeceased by his mother, Barbara Checkosky, grandparents, Margaret and Frank Checkosky and John Wykes, uncles, Michael, Frankie, and Robert Checkosky and cousin, Timothy Barclay.

 

In Matthew's honor, please consider making a contribution to St. Patrick’s Church in lieu of flowers.

 

Calling hour starts at 9:00 a.m. on Friday December 6, 2019 at St. Patricks Church 216 N. Lowell Ave.  Funeral Services to be held after calling hours at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
