Obituary of Alice Nanno
Alice Margaret Nanno (Hains), 86 years young, died peacefully at Crouse Hospital after a brief illness. Alice was a lifelong resident of Central New York, living her entire life on the west side of Syracuse. Alice loved Syracuse and her only wish was to be near family and friends. When Alice wasn't spending time with her children or grandchildren, she volunteered at Most Holy Rosary Church, where she was a lifelong parishioner. She will be remembered for her gift of listening and not judging others. Known by her grandchildren as "Fox," Alice quietly observed others and only offered her opinion after thoughtful consideration. Her life was a living example of her belief in God and his teachings - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."
Alice is predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Nanno Jr., her parents, John L. Hains and Audrey A. (Major) Hains.
Alice is survived by her three children and their spouses, Tom Nanno III, John (Diane) Nanno and Joyce (Joe) Stafford; grandchildren, Joseph Nanno, Meredith Baldwin, Carolyn Nanno, Laura Nanno, Michael Stafford and Shannon Stafford; plus, one great grandchild Brielle, and her niece, Cindy Lausten. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00am at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave, Syracuse NY 13207. The family will receive friends and relatives at church from 9:00am-10:00am prior to the mass. Burial will be private.
