Obituary of Katherine Banach Paige

Katherine Banach Paige, 96, died January 19, 2020 at St. Camillus Nursing Home with family by her side. Kate retired as a teaching assistant with the Syracuse City School district and worked many years for the Board of Elections. She was a communicant of St. Lucy’s Church, where she was also a volunteer. She was a life-long resident of Syracuse, and was known by many as the matriarch of the Skunk City Neighborhood. Kate was predeceased by her husband, Robert; son, Gregory; daughter, Ann Paige Trejo; granddaughter, Meg Paige; her parents, Edward and Cecelia Banach and five sisters. She is survived by: children, Bob (Urai), Larry (Fran), Kathleen (Dana) Morezak, Tom (Maureen), Marilyn (Ed) Downs, Christine (Jack) Marshall, Tim (Mary), Paul; daughter-in-law, Teresa Paige, 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and life-long friends, Greg and Honey Barbieri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 10am at St. Lucy’s Church, Gifford Street. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Camillus for their care of Katherine.
