Katherine Banach Paige, 96, died January 19, 2020 at St. Camillus Nursing Home with family by her side. Kate retired as a teaching assistant with the Syracuse City School district and worked many years for the Board of Elections. She was a communicant of St. Lucy’s Church, where she was also a volunteer. She was a life-long resident of Syracuse, and was known by many as the matriarch of the Skunk City Neighborhood. Kate was predeceased by her husband, Robert; son, Gregory; daughter, Ann Paige Trejo; granddaughter, Meg Paige; her parents, Edward and Cecelia Banach and five sisters. She is survived by: children, Bob (Urai), Larry (Fran), Kathleen (Dana) Morezak, Tom (Maureen), Marilyn (Ed) Downs, Christine (Jack) Marshall, Tim (Mary), Paul; daughter-in-law, Teresa Paige, 25 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and life-long friends, Greg and Honey Barbieri. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 10am at St. Lucy’s Church, Gifford Street. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Camillus for their care of Katherine. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Lucy’s Food Pantry, 432 Gifford St, Syracuse, NY 13204.
