Lucy Tartaro Van Dyke, 98, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Lucy retired from the Onondaga County Department of Social Services, where she worked as a social worker. After her retirement, she was a bookkeeper for Coté & Van Dyke Law Offices. Lucy was a member of St. Michael’s Church, & enjoyed leading her annual group pilgrimages to St. Anne in Canada. She was a lifelong Republican Committee Member and was recognized and honored with the Dr. Anthony A. “Doc” Malfitano Town of Onondaga Republican of the Year Award in 1999, the Ronald W. Reagan Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013, & the Leo Bielski Award from the West End Republican Club in 2018. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Van Dyke, & seven siblings, Rose Farnett, Esther Lion, Michael Tartaro, Louis Tartaro, Anthony Tartaro, Frances Freeman & Donald Tartaro. Lucy is survived by her children, Joanne Van Dyke (Joseph S. Cote III) of Syracuse, & Robert F. Van Dyke of Washington D.C., 4 grandchildren, Laura, Travis, Lily & Benjamin Coté, 1 sister, Mary Speach (Nicholas), & many loving nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 10am at Most Holy Rosary, 111 Roberts Ave. Syracuse, NY. Calling hours will be held from 1-4pm on Sunday, February 23 at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
