Obituary of Thomas E. Heaney, Sr.

Thomas E. Heaney Sr, 82, left this earth to join his wife and 4 sons for eternal rest on September 4, 2020. Tom was born in 1937 to James and Blanche Heaney.

Tom began his career as an Operations Manager at General Electric. He went on to own and operate The Thomas’s Restaurant for many years.  Tom eventually moved on to be an independent subcontractor for Syracuse Cable Company.  Tom retired at the age of 79 after 33 years with Onondaga Central School District.

Tom enjoyed his camp very much, spending time doing projects on the weekends.  Tom married his childhood sweetheart since the age of 9 on May 7^th 1955.

Tom lost his best friend and wife of 65 years, Frances Kathleen Heaney in 2015. Tom is also predeceased by parents, James and Blanche, siblings; James, John and Joyce Heaney, four sons, Thomas E Heaney Jr., Michael G. Heaney, William J. Heaney, Joseph P. Heaney Sr. and grandsons, Michael F. and Brandon S.

He is survived by children, Richard V. Heaney, and Kathleen E. Kearney (Matthew); 15 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Tom is also survived by sisters, Jane Carr (Kermit), Blanche Mosher (David) and sister in law Patricia Diamond.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 11am at St. Lucy’s Church, 432 Gifford St.  Calling hours will be held from 10am to 11am at church prior to mass. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.
