Obituary of Carol M. Schoeneck

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Mary Schoeneck passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born on March 4, 1931, in Battle Creek, MI daughter of Edward and Helen (Weisenburger) Hall. She graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School and then from Le Moyne College in 1952 with a degree in Industrial Relations. Her first job was at the Easy Washer Company. Carol met her husband, John, while at Le Moyne and they were married on May 23, 1953. She traveled with her husband, who was in the Navy, to Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan. While there, their two oldest daughters were born. They returned to the States in 1955 living in numerous locations during John’s career with General Electric including: Utica, Fitchburg, MA, Lynchburg, VA, Montclair, NJ, Longmeadow, MA, Vestal, Syracuse, and Clearwater, FL.

Mom was involved in many of her children’s activities. She rarely missed a family gathering, and continued that tradition with her 26 grandchildren. She traveled near and far to attend sporting events, concerts, first communions, weddings and baptisms. In later years, she beamed whenever one of her 21 great grandchildren came to visit. Her faith was unwavering and always at the forefront of her life. Mom enjoyed a special bond with her brother David, that was evident throughout her life. Throughout her years, she maintained a special group of lifelong friends, many of whom she met while at Most Holy Rosary or Le Moyne. Over the last few decades, they could often be found playing bridge, discussing a book, or enjoying a social visit.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Helen Hall, husband, F. John Schoeneck, son, Michael, and son-in-law, William Riggall. She is survived by her brother, David (Bonne) Hall (Fort Meyers, FL), daughters, Deborah (James) Monaco (Marietta, NY), Barbara Riggall (Villages, FL), and Kathleen (Thomas) Powers (Medfield, MA), daughter-in-law, Maribeth Schoeneck, sons, Paul (Diane), Robert (Denise), John (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, Va. and William (Kelly) of Needham, MA.

Our many thanks to the wonderful caregivers provided by Peregrine Home Care Services, Hospice of CNY, and a special note of thanks to our cousin, Dr. Henry Schoeneck for his many years of dedicated and compassionate care.
