
Obituary of Catherine Egerbrecht
Catherine Egerbrecht, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in Frankfort, NY on April 23, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Vito A. and Theresa Congzlea Vallone. Catherine was a graduate of Frankfort-Schuyler Central School in 1966. After graduating from the Central City Business Institute in Utica in 1967, Catherine dedicated herself to a meaningful career. She spent seven years at Upstate Medical Center meticulously documenting medical reports and later lent her talents to the West Genesee School District. Throughout her professional life, her caring nature and unwavering dedication to others shone through.
Catherine’s most cherished roles were as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister and loyal friend. She married the love of her life, Gerald Egerbrecht, on September 25, 1971. They celebrated over 53 years of marriage filled with love and laughter. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love extended unconditionally to her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law. She had a generous spirit and was always ready to lend a helping hand and to support others in their time of need.
A proud Italian American, Catherine’s vibrant spirit shone brightly in her heart. In 2017, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking a memorable trip to Italy, reconnecting with her heritage and creating cherished memories that reflected the passion and joy she brought to every part of her life. Her legendary sauce and meatballs were a family favorite and a testament to the traditions she held dear.
Catherine’s love for her King Charles spaniels was well-known, and they, too, benefited from the compassion and care she so generously shared. Catherine’s legacy is one of lasting kindness, treasured family traditions, and a smile that welcomed all who crossed her path. Her spirit will live on in every shared family meal, every fond memory, and every moment of quiet grace.
She is lovingly remembered by those who remain including her dear husband, Gerald E. Egerbrecht, her son, Jason (Lisa Posenauer), her daughters, Jill Coulson (Patrick) of La Honda, CA and Julie Nolet (Nathaniel) of Lenox, MA, her two grandchildren Gabriel and Everleigh Nolet, her cherished siblings Mary Scalzo (Dana), Anthony Vallone, Thomas Vallone, and Phyllis Karam (Joseph) as well as several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday Feb. 10, 2025 at 10am at Holy Family Church. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9-10 prior to mass at church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
