Obituary of Caitlin Marie Kearney
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Caitlin M. Kearney (Cait), 30, of Syracuse, NY. Cait, a beloved partner, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and compassionate care team at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Surviving are her fiancé, Scott Billington II of Syracuse, NY; parents, Nancy & Jack Kearney of Fayetteville, NY; sister, Melissa (Brent) Hicks of Cicero, NY; brother Scott (Amanda) Kearney of Broomfield, CO; and brother Kyle (Kathleen) Kearney, of West Monroe, NY; along with several nieces and nephews spanning New York (Raymond and Delaney) and Colorado (Kinsley, Brexton, and Saylor).
Cait lived a life filled with the love and joy she generously shared with those around her. She had an extraordinary love for animals, which was evident in her adoration of her two beloved dogs, Gemma and Pavlov, her tenure working with Chittenango Animal Hospital, and her integral role in the puppy and service dog training programs at Blue Prints Dog Studio. Her nurturing spirit extended to every corner of her life, but nowhere was it more apparent than in her devotion to her family. Cait cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially when she had the joy of spoiling her nieces and nephews.
Quick-witted and known for her sharp sense of humor, Cait had the incredible ability to make those around her smile, even in the toughest of times. Her infectious laughter, clever remarks, and radiant personality made every gathering a little brighter, and her presence a gift that will never be forgotten.
Caitlin had a bright future ahead with the love of her life, Scotty. Recently engaged with plans to wed in the summer of 2026, Cait and Scotty’s shared dreams and the promise of a life full of love and adventures now live on in the memories they made together.
In a testament to her selflessness, Cait chose to be an organ donor, a decision that will continue to touch lives long after her passing. Even in death, she remains a beacon of generosity, giving others the gift of life and hope.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, March 21, 2025, 4:00-7:00 PM at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, 11:00 AM at the same location. Should you wish to honor Cait’s memory, her family would welcome donations to Cuse Pit Crew, HumaneCNY, or Wanderer’s Rest Humane Association in lieu of flowers.
Cait’s family and friends take solace in the knowledge that her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched, and in the hearts of those who loved her. In Cait's honor, may we all continue to embrace life with kindness, generosity, and a healthy dose of humor, just as she did.
