Obituary of Sylvia J. Carroll

Sylvia J. Carroll, 87, of Syracuse passed away peacefully August 10, 2025.

Sylvia was born August 15, 1937 in Cherry Valley, NY to the late Erma & Sylvester Solar. She was a graduate of Oneonta High School before going onto Continental Beauty School. Sylvia had long career in the hospitality industry having worked at various establishments throughout Central New York. She met Thomas Carroll in 1956 and the were married in 1957. Sylvia loved going to the Turning Stone Casino and enjoyed playing bingo and blackjack.

She is predeceased by her parents, sister, Sharon Morgan and brother John Solar.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 68 years Thomas Carroll, children, Julie (Rich) Montgomery, Thomas Jr. (Judith) and John (Gina), sister, Shirley McGrath as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday August 14, 2025 at 11am at the Edward J. Ryan & Son funeral home. Calling hours will be held Wednesday August 13, 2025 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made Hospice of CNY.
