Sharon Carpenter Dolan passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025 at the age of 80.  We know that she had a wonderful reunion in heaven with her son, Christopher and granddaughter, Caroline Ellison.  A lifelong resident of Syracuse, she dedicated her life to babies and young children through years of childcare and elementary teaching in the Syracuse City School District.   

Born January 3, 1945 to Helen C. and James K. Carpenter.  She was a graduate of The Convent School, LeMoyne College and Syracuse University. 

She is survived by her husband, Paul J. and her children: Bridget (Dave) Ellison , Tim (Emily Carroll), Katie (Dan) Sheehan , Sean (Kelsey), Meghan  (John) Gullo, and Molly (Kevin) Hayden .  She was the proud grandmother of Jake (Keeley) and Michael Ellison, Fiona and Sinead Dolan, Kevin, Ryan and Maggie Sheehan, Nora, Breccan and Jack Dolan, Sam, Maya and Grady Gullo, and Connor, Kieran and Riley Hayden.

She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen (Michael) Downey, her in-laws, Sr. Mary Patrick Dolan, Cathy Bennett, Jim (Katie) Kelly and John Kelly, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.  

Calling hours will be 1-4pm on Sunday Sept 28th at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, Syracuse, NY 13219.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, September 29th in St. Patrick’s-St. Brigid's Church, Syracuse, NY.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
