Thomas Eicholzer Obituary

Thomas J. Eicholzer, 60, passed away Sunday morning January 4th, 2026, at home surrounded by his family and friends. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for the last 2 and a half years but never let that define him. Tommy was known for his laughter, his stories and his strength through it all. He was born  in Syracuse, NY on August 2, 1965, to Dolores and Ernie Eicholzer and he graduated from Corcoran High School and Morrisville College.

Tommy began his career at Walt Disney World where he worked for over 22 years.  After starting in entertainment where he performed in parades and shows, he made the move to hotel management and ended his time at Disney as Convention and Catering Manager at the Grand Floridian where he took care of his many celebrity guests.

Tommy returned to Syracuse as Director of Banquets at the Oncenter so he could spend more time with his beloved parents and family. His last job was as Manager at Persimmons at Timber Banks where everyone loved him.

He will be forever remembered for the way he made people feel. His ability to tell a story and make people laugh was legendary and he could make the simplest moments unforgettable. Tommy had a heart of gold and if you were lucky to be among his many friends, you were always treated with love and kindness.

Tommy was refined in so many areas of his life, including becoming a Sommelier but preferred his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Folgers coffee to the fancy stuff. He was in several shows and dance competitions in his life and loved everything Broadway, as long as it was a musical. He had a knack for making you feel like you were the “star of the show” when actually he was always the brightest light in the room.

Tommy lived his life on his terms and always included everyone. After his diagnoses, he made a conscious effort to create lasting memories as a gift to those left behind.  He spent time with old friends, TRT friends and Florida friends. He vacationed with them, attended their family celebrations and traveled often to NYC to “catch a couple of shows” with them. When it became more difficult for him to venture out, he welcomed all into his home to be with him.

Tommy is predeceased by his mother, Dolores  and his father, Ernest. He leaves behind his brothers Andy, and Jim (Kara) and his favorite sister, Lori (Travis). He is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Amanda, Brendan, Lander Annelise, Logan, Lachlan and Lily.

A huge shout out to HOA Brittonfield for the wonderful care for Tommy the last couple of years and thank you for the generosity of those at Timber Banks who made his burden lighter as he fought this disease.

Calling hours will be held at Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home, 3180 Belleuve Ave, on Friday, January 16, 2-26 from 4-6:30pm with a service to follow.
