Obituary of Mary F. Dwyer

Mary F. Dwyer, 80, of Solvay, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Raised on Tipperary Hill in Syracuse, she graduated from St. Patrick’s high school. Mary’s primary occupation was loving mother of five and dedicated grandmother. She also worked for the Syracuse Blazers hockey team, the NYS Thruway Authority, and the Van Duyn Assisted Living Center, before retiring to her most joyful job, passionate grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchild. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace in Lakeland and St. Cecilia’s in Solvay. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Mary (Fahey) Casey, husband George, and grandson, Jacob Dwyer. Mary is survived by her brother, Robert (Stephanie) Casey of Nashville, Tenn., and five children; Deborah Carpenter, Mary Beth (Derek) Youngquist, Tom (Joan) Dwyer, Kathleen (Floyd) Pucello, and Kevin (Christine) Dwyer. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Christopher (Eva) Richardson, Callie Carpenter, Casey, Tessa, and Cody Pucello, and Ted, Haley, Rylie and Luke Dwyer, as well as great grandson Donald Richardson. A Memorial Mass will be held at 9:30am on Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Cecilia's Church; 1001 Woods Rd, Syracuse, NY 13209. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6:30pm on Thursday at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Cecelia’s food pantry.
