Obituary of Charlotte Ruth Murphy
Charlotte Murphy, 90, Onondaga Hill, passed away on Monday, December 4 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A registered nurse and full-time wife and mother, Charlotte devoted her life to her family. She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY but made her home on Onondaga Hill in Syracuse, where she resided since 1965. She loved her family and friends and had a passion for shopping, entertaining, sports, horse racing, and golf. She was involved with the Tom Dooley Choraliers for the 32 years her husband, John participated with the group. During her later years, Charlotte enjoyed regular activities at the Onondaga Hill Senior Center.
Charlotte was predeceased by her mother; father; and sister, Loretta; an infant son, David; many friends and family; and very recently a beloved daughter-in-law, Maureen. She left behind her husband, John D. Murphy, and sons, John (Jene), Dennis (Maureen, deceased), Kevin (Monica), and Justin (Patti). She was also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A mass will be held in her memory at The Church of St. Michael and St. Peter, 4782 W Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215, at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 12. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.
