Obituary of Mindy L. Queen

Mindy L. Queen, 72, of Westvale, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 after a lengthy series of illnesses.  Mindy graduated from Westhill High School and Auburn Community College.  Mindy operated her own lawn care business for over thirty years.  She also coached basketball at St. Charles and was named Coach of the Year 1986/1987 for CYO Grammar Division II. 

Mindy loved the Great New York State Fair and worked at the Infield Restaurant for a number of years.  She was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, New York Giants and Syracuse University sports teams.

Mindy was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Vera Welsh.  She is survived by her husband, John J. Queen, her daughter, Elizabeth (Chris) Nelsen, her granddaughter, Emily Nelsen, and her sisters, Laura Welsh of Fairmount and Maureen Weidenkopf of Texas.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Patrick’s St. Brigid’s Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave. Calling hours will be held prior from 9:30 -10:30am at church.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Patrick’s St. Brigid’s Food; 216 N. Lowell Ave. Syracuse, NY 13204.
