Obituary of Margaret O'Hern Lazarski

Margaret O’Hern Lazarski, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024, with her family at her side after a brief illness.

Margaret was born in Buffalo, but grew up in Westvale and was a graduate of Westhill High School. She raised her three daughters in the Camillus area and was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church where she volunteered her time in their Food Pantry, Prayer Room, and as a Eucharist Minister.

Margaret worked as the Director of Payroll in the East Syracuse Minoa School District until she retired in 2014. In her retirement, she trained her beloved dog Charlie in the AKC K9 Good Citizen Program. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening with her girls, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Margaret was predeceased by her loving parents, James John O’Hern and Carol O’Hern Anderson, and her Aunt Betty and Uncle Bill Chilvers. Margaret is survived by her three daughters, Carrie Raymond (Rick) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Jenny Boyce, Kathleen Sunheimer (Mark) of Syracuse, and her 5 beautiful grandchildren, siblings, Mary Frances (Kevin) Kane, Walter Patrick (Debbie) O'Hern, and James Kevin (Catherine) O'Hern, many nieces and nephews. 

Calling hours will be from 1-4 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. A funeral will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024at 12 pm at St. Lucy’s Church in Syracuse. Private burial will be held at a later date.
