Obituary of Mary Jane Murphy

Mary Jane (Dadey) Murphy, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully, on March 26, 2014. She was the daughter of Leo and Gertrude Dadey. Mary Jane graduated from Central High School and received a B.S. in Nursing from Syracuse University. She worked for several years as a Public Health Nurse for Onondaga County. Mary Jane enjoyed family gatherings and time spent at her camp on Skaneateles Lake. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and a member of Skaneateles Country Club. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Murphy, and their eight children, Thomas (Lena) Murphy of Camillus, William (Anna) Murphy of Skaneateles, James (Alice) Murphy of Skaneateles, Martin (Virginia) Murphy of Camillus, Timothy (Mary Ann) Murphy of Camillus, Vincent (Michele) Murphy of Camillus, Margaret (Michael) McGarvey of Onondaga Hill and Martha Murphy of Syracuse; twenty- one grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard, Thomas, and William Dadey; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was pre-deceased by her grandson, John McGarvey, and her brother, John Dadey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 29th at St. Ann's Church, Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse. Spring burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Skaneateles. Arrangements are being handled by Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to ARC of Onondaga, 600 South Wilbur Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
