William G. Cassidy Jr. of Camillus passed away peacefully December 19th surrounded by his loving family. Bill was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy where he was a star football and baseball player. He attended Dean Academy Prep School and earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Masters in Education while attending Syracuse University on a baseball scholarship. Bill was a Physical Education teacher and coach for 32 years at Arthur A. Gates Elementary School in Port Byron. He enjoyed an early retirement and was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club and the Old Rascals Golf Group. His family and faith were two things Bill cherished the most, and was a parishioner of Holy Family Church in Fairmount. Bill spent 45 years at his camp on Tully Lake with his children and two sisters and brother-in-laws, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret Cassidy, his wife Suzanne, and granddaughter Holly Katko.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, Francine O'Donnell, his children; Suzanne Katko (Andrew), Ann Cassidy (John Villanueva), William Cassidy III, Thomas Cassidy, Mary Cassidy, Christine Cassidy(Matt Warshal), and Steven Cassidy, his sisters; Ann Stiner and Margaret Ferris (John), in addition, Kelly, Brian and Tim O'Donnell and grandchildren Andrew Katko and Lauren Mitchell.
Services will be held Monday, Dec.23rd at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Dewitt. Calling hours will be held Sunday Dec. 22nd at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave.
