Obituary of James Robert Wortelboer

James was born October 24, 1919 in Muskegon HTS, Michigan, the son of James Joseph and Mayme Plamp Wortelboer. He was educated in Michigan schools before WWII where he served from 1941-1945 in the South Pacific with the 37th division of the U.S. Army-returning to complete his Syracuse University B.S. degree in 1947. He then went into business at A.H. Pond Co. (Keepsake Diamonds) retiring as VP in 1981. While working and raising a family, James was an active member and officer of First Presbyterian Church and a member of Syracuse University Club. An avid traveler, he and his wife, Loraine, visited many countries where they especially appreciated other cultures and people. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ellen Loraine, two daughters, Janice Ann (Frank) Wierenga of Yardley, PA and Lynn Ellen Niedt of Syracuse, NY, seven grandchildren: Leslie Sejda; Marcia McCole; David Wierenga; Benjamin, Byran, Joshua, and Bethany Niedt and seven great grandchildren: Winston, Nigel, and Reilly Sejda; Drake and Paige McCole; Toby and Layla Wierenga. Services will be private.
