George Francis Farrell, 94, died in Columbus, Ohio on June 7, 2014. George was born in Superior, Wisconsin on March 10, 1920. He lived, worked and raised his family in Syracuse, New York for over 60 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Alyce, in October 2007 and is survived by 5 sons: David (Nancy), Greg (Lorna), Mark (Kathi), Kevin (Kim) and Brian (Jackie), 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. George was a pilot during World War II, flying over 50 missions. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa, worked as an engineer at General Electric and retired from that organization in 1989 after a very distinguished career. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, teacher and friend. One of his greatest joys was music. He played several instruments including guitar and was an excellent pianist. George sang in St. Ann's church choir in Syracuse for many years. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Church, 4471 Onondaga Blvd, Syracuse at 10:00 AM Monday, June 16, 2014. Calling hours will be 2-5pm on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue, Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the charity of your choice.
