Margaret M. "Peg" Taylor Obituary

Margaret M. 'Peg' Taylor, 85, of Syracuse, died peacefully on June 27, 2014 in Rochester, N.Y.


Born March 10, 1929 in Syracuse, she was raised on Columbus Ave., graduated from The Covent School and attended LeMoyne College.


Peg is predeceased by her parents, Joseph E. Mayer and Marion B. (Heffron) Mayer, her sisters, Mary Eugenia and M. Susan Mayer, her husband, Ralph V. Taylor and her children, Timothy and Thomas Taylor, and Teresa (Taylor) Krause.


Peg was a homemaker and enjoyed hostessing especially in the summer at Otisco Lake. She was always ready for a hand of cards and particularly liked a challenging game of bridge. She was a lifelong ardent fan of Notre Dame's Fighting Irish. Through volunteer work Peg championed social justice issues for the homeless.


Survivors include her children Sharon M. Taylor of Victor, NY, Denise (John) Taylor-Edwards of Strathroy, Ontario, R. Vincent (Cheryl) Taylor of Barrington, IL, Margo (David) Tucker of New Paltz, NY, and Katie (Nick) Ciccone of Waltham, Massachusetts; and her grandchildren Christina and Sean Tucker and Kirsty, Andrew, Nicholas, Emily and William Edwards.


A funeral mass will be held at St. Ann's Church, 4461 Onondaga Blvd at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 1 followed by burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Otisco. Friends may call at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. on Monday, June 30 from 4 to 7pm.


Peg's family would like to thank her caregiver Pat Pilgrim and the staff of The Friendly Home for their excellent care.
