Obituary of Rose Hayes Goodnough

Rose (Roseanne) Hayes Goodnough, 85, lifelong resident of Tipperary Hill passed away on August 1, 2014. Rose was born on March 6, 1929, the sixth of thirteen children of Robert E. and Hazel Mahoney Hayes. Rose graduated from St. Patrick's school in 1947; she retired in 1988 from NYNEX and in 2004 from The Cashel House. Besides her parents, Rose is predeceased by her husband, Boots (Murray), four sisters and their spouses, Mary Elizabeth Donahue (James), Henrietta Lodes, Theresa Mosedale (James), and Lucy Henson, six brothers and their spouses, Robert E. (Shirley), Jack P. (Ginny), Msgr. Edward J., Honorable Leo F., Gus (William A.), Jeremiah T. Hayes and her sister-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Hayes. She is survived by her daughter, Diane of Fairmont, two sons, Michael (Kathy) of Westvale and Thomas (Cara) of Jay, NY, three granddaughters, Katie Sjuve, Meaghan (Aimee) Greeley, and Colleen (Chad VanSlyke) Goodnough all of Syracuse, and two grandsons, Dennis and John Goodnough of Jay, NY, and two great-grandsons, Mitchell Collins and Kameron Sjuve. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) and Paul Henson of Altmar, NY and Port Richey, FL, her brother, Joseph of Syracuse and Port Richey, FL, and her sisters-in-law, Arlene Hayes of Syracuse, Margaret Hayes of Altmar, Heidi Hayes of PA and Effie (Amon) Ellis of Syracuse. Rose is also survived by her close friend and brother-in-law, James Henson of Cedarvale and several nieces and nephews. Services will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 9:15am the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. and 10 am at St. Patrick's Church, Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
