Obituary of Thomas E. Heaney Jr.

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas E. Heaney Jr. (Boom Boom), 58, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday. Tom attended St Lucy's Academy. He was a United States Army Veteran. Tom was a member of Teamsters Local 317, employed by Syracuse Rigging as a heavy truck parts salesman. He was the owner and operator of Courier 1 Dispatch until his retirement. Tom will be best known for his love of being a self-taught drummer and instructor for more than 40 years. He spent many of those years with Roosevelt Dean and The Bleach Boys, The Wanderers, and Holy Smoke. Tom took his love for music and showed it by giving much of his time planning fundraisers and benefits. Tom was very fond of trainings dogs, in particular German Shepard's. His dog, lady bug, is proudly sitting at the doors of heaven today. A die hard Dallas Cowboy fan and history buff, Tom will never be forgotten. He is survived by his son, Neal Saarie from Phoenix NY, step daughter, Riki Zamora (my mouse) from Colorado, parents, Thomas E. Heaney Sr. and Frances K. Heaney of Syracuse, brother, Richard Heaney, sister, Kathleen Kearney (Matthew), many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers; Michael, William and Joseph. Calling hours will be Thursday, 4-7 pm October 23, 2014 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Mass will be held on Friday at 10 am at St. Lucy's Church, 420 Gifford St., Syracuse, NY. Burial will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
