Obituary of Carolyn Barry Burns

Carolyn Barry Burns, 80, of Syracuse passed away on January 12, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Carolyn was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School and worked for many years at LeMoyne College. Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary (Flood) Barry; her former husband Robert J. Burns, son-in-law Thomas Gillson, and grandson Bobby Gillson. Carolyn's greatest love was her family. She is survived by her six children; MaryAnne Gillson, Robert "Toby", Michael (Eileen), Patrick, Carolyn Keenan (Kevin), James (Meg), nine grandchildren, two sisters, MaryAnne Clark and Kathleen Sinclair (Avery), one brother Michael Barry (Anne) and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 15 from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home at 3180 Bellevue Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16 at 10 am at Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shamrock Animal Fund, 7815 Karakul Lane, Fayetteville, NY 13066, or a charity of your choice.
