Mary Virginia (Ryan) Hurley, 97, was born on July 27, 1917 to an Irish Catholic Family on the "West End" of Syracuse, and never moved far from her roots, later settling down with her husband, Bill in Camillus. Mary Virginia was a long-time employee of NY telephone, AT&T and then Verizon until her retirement. Mary Virginia was an active communicate of Holy Family Church. She led a happy and full life until her health failed her, but she never lost her Irish wit, and never forgot how to "get her Irish up." Mary enjoyed travelling, often with her sister, Winnie, both in the States and abroad. She also enjoyed music, gardening, playing cards, reading, dining out with friends and family. Mary spent the last several years of her life at St. Camillus Residential Health, where she developed many close friendships with both other residents and staff. They will all miss her, and Mary Virginia thanks them for all the comfort and care they provided her. Mary was pre-deceased by her husband, William Hurley (1991), her sister, Winnifred (2006), and brother, Jack (2011). Mary is survived by niece, Susan Ryan of CA, nephews, Mark (Rita) Ryan, David Ryan, Paul Ryan, all also in CA, several grandnieces and grandnephews from both the Ryan and Hurley sides of the family, and cousin, James (Christine) Gorman of Pennellville, NY. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219 at 12:00pm on Friday, March 27. There are no calling hours.
