Franklin D. R. Strickland passed away on Friday, April 3rd at the Central Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Born on December 11, 1936 to Elder Frank and Hattie Strickland in Olean, NY, he graduated from Olean High School in 1954. He received his Bachelor in Chemistry degree at St. Bonaventure University in 1959. He served as a U.S. Army Artillery officer in Germany for three years, and then worked for Shanco Plastics and Chemicals Inc. in Tonawanda, NY until the mid 1970s. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lily and Alease, and his brother, Benjamin. Franklin leaves two surviving sisters, Kay L. Edgecombe and Willie Mae Grasty, and one brother, Lee Strickland, along with several nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends. He served as an ordained pastor at the Bethel Tabernacle Church in Buffalo, NY, and Atlanta, GA. He had a strong passion for teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Services will be at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse, NY on Tuesday, April 7th at 1pm.
