Obituary of Virginia Anne (Ginny) O'Brien

Virginia Anne (Ginny) O'Brien of Syracuse died peacefully at home surrounded by her friends and family on July 28, 2015 after a long illness. Ginny was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and a member of St. Patrick's Parish on Tipperary Hill. She attended St. Patrick's School and was a graduate of SUNY Morrisville. She capped a 30 year career with Niagara Mohawk retiring in 2001 as a senior business analyst. She was an avid world traveler, a gourmet chef, and expert photographer, and a most doting Aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family. She was predeceased by her parents, William E. and Katherine Dorsey O'Brien of Tipperary Hill, her sister,, Peggy Kanaley, and brothers Dr. Timothy A. , William E. Jr. (Bounce) and Sean O'Brien. She is survived by her sister, Mary O. Hooven (Charlie) and brother, Patrick J. O'Brien (Lorinda) and her many nieces and nephews and especially cousins. Calling hours will be at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. on Friday, July 31, 2015 from 4 till 7 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at St. Patrick's Church. Internment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the St. Patrick's Heritage Fund c/o the church. Ginny has requested for people to wear something green to the funeral in her honor.
