My Godfather will be greatly missed. He inspired me much and always had a lesson, a recommended spiritual book, or a quiet truth to share.
Julie Zaferes is the godmother to my godfather. We both
didn't realize this relationship existed. I was visiting Ascension Cathedral while vacationing in Oakland on Sep 19 and while speaking briefly with Julie she asked me if I knew James Condon? I said of course, he is my Godfather. His Godson found out from her he fell asleep from James' Godmother.
I Know Jim would say: You see, that is the way God works; believe Brother!
To the next time we meet Brother.....

A moral giant and a humble man. He was the equal of my own sainted father in matters of faith, and he and my father had many conversations about being Catholic. My sincere condolences to his extended family on his passing. I personally enjoyed knowing him for many decades. He will be greatly missed

The whole James Condon Sr. Family must know that Jim was an amazing example of a Christian, and that he loved his family so much.
To me every parish member that knew him and those that may not have had the pleasure to have met him , must all know that St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox church lost a true gem of a man and so very special.
He has had a most profound influence on all our four children and both of us as parents. From Jim's teachings in Sunday school to our heavy discussions about life, raising a family and cherishing each other. There is absolutely No One that worked harder bringing the campers back packs to camp on the trailer, or setting up or anything for that matter that was ever needed by our priests or parish....Jim was always unconditionally there, on call. And as long as Jim was here we knew that when the alter boys were late or no shows...he was the best helper anyone could have behind the alter for Fathers. His heart was so open and huge, and in my estimation the finest example of living the life of a Christian with all the experiences life brings to become one.
He and I always reminisced about the townies near the camp grounds wondering who those two New Jersey looking fellas with the stogies were.....walking around by themselves in the deep woods. Toughest Irishman I knew.
We have lost a Pillar of a man that helped define our St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church in Syracuse.
With all our love, respect and sympathy.......May God keep his soul safe until we all meet again.
George, Teresa, Anna, Zoe, Peter, Nikolas and Papou Koulouris.....

James, you will be greatly missed. Truly, you are one of the finest people I have ever known. It was an honor to be your friend. Words cannot express how much my family loved and admired you. You were a mentor to my children and a shinning example of what an Orthodox Christian should be. Pray for us in Gods Glorious Kingdom.

My sincere condolences to the Condon family during
this sad and difficult time. Every loss
is a challenge to grow. Growth requires change, and change is often painful.
When a loved one passes , everything changes, including you. Nothing is ever the
same again. Loss creates an emotional wound, but it is a wound that can be healed.
With help and understanding, the pain of loss can be transformed into a challenging new beginning, and your grief experience can become a healthy, positive and healing. Your Dad is resting peacefully and enjoying the splendor and the beauties of heaven.
God
bless ,
Rick & Dorrie Bowles Jr. & Family

Dear Condon family, your father (and mother) have left behind a legacy of love and laughter that will endure through the ages. Also a mountain of memories that will last our family a lifetime. Your family was so much a part of our family that even our grandchildren have heard of the exploits and escapades we shared forty and fifty years ago.
Our hearts grieve with you at this loss, but nothing can ever steal away the memories . Al and Jean Desiderio
