Obituary of Jane M. LaBombard Coffey

Jane M. LaBombard Coffey Sr. "Grandma," 87, of Tipperary Hill passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 with her daughter at her side. Jane was born on May 5, 1928 to John F. and Margaret Durand LaBombard in Plattsburgh, New York. She moved to Syracuse, New York in 1946 where she met her husband, James M. Coffey Sr. They were married on August 27, 1947. Jane was a homemaker until her youngest daughter started school. She then worked in the nurseries at St. Mary's Maternity Hospital and Community General Hospital. The joy of her life was her husband, eight children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A more Irish Frenchmen you would never find. Jane was a great cook and enjoyed doing things for others. Her door was always open for family and friends whether for a holiday celebration or just for a cup of coffee. Her children will always remember her saying, "You're not going out until your chores are done"! "Mom, your earthly chores are done. Rest in peace." Jane was predeceased by her parents and her four brothers, Willard, Pete, Glenn and John LaBombard, her husband, James M. Sr. in 1992, her son, James M. Jr. in 1973, daughters, Erin in 2001 and Patricia in 2015. She is survived by her son, David (Loretta), daughters, Mary Ellen (Randy) Blume, Nancy Zimmerman, Jane (Michael) Cosselman, and Bonnie (Wayne) Scholten, 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Loretto 9th Floor Cunningham, especially Louise and Ival (Thank you for not listening to Mom and not going back to your country, Ival.) Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 9:30am at St. Patrick's Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 6pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Patrick's Food Pantry, 216 N. Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
