Daniel J. Thompson, died peacefully at home on February 16 at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family & friends, in Redding, California. Growing up in Central NY, he graduated from Solvay High School in 1964. After attending Rochester Institute of Technology, he served four distinguished years with the US Navy. Beginning a long and successful career in warehouse management in Syracuse, Dan and his family then moved to Carrollton, Texas, Fremont, California, and subsequently moved to Redding, California, where he retired.
Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Rogala) Thompson. After tragically losing their first child, Krista to leukemia in 1974, they continued their family life with sons, Daniel Jr. (Kelly) and Bradley (Ashley), and grandchildren, Grant, Julia, and Aiden. Dan and Barb often entertained their family and large circle of friends poolside at the Thompson "ranch" overlooking Mt. Shasta.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Anne Rita, is survived by brothers, Michael, Thomas (Nancy), George (Mary Kay) Thompson, and Sharon (Jim) Saukas, and numerous nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and many cousins.
Those who knew Dan will never forget the man determined to make many friends wherever he went, and insist on laughter. He had the wit of a thousand men. Family and friends will celebrate his life and charm later this month in Redding.
