Eleanor Josephine Diamond (Walsh), 79, passed away on April 20th surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Ellie was a loving wife to her husband Jim; he was truly the love of her life. Her passions included her job at Wheelers Restaurant as a waitress for 41 years. She enjoyed playing golf, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a talented seamstress, cook and homemaker that took pride in the loving care of her family and home. Following a stroke in 2009 she showed tremendous bravery and tenacity in her recovery. Her fellow residents at Sedgewick commended her for her courage and spirit.
Ellie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Jim and sister, Joan Allen. She is survived by her son, Jim Diamond; daughters, Lisa (Brian Kane) Diamond and Tracey (Brian Brooks) Diamond; four grandchildren: Lauren, Jesse, Taylor and T.J., her sister, Suzanne Venditti, and brothers, Tom (Karen) Walsh and Jim Walsh.
Calling Hours will be held at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave on Monday May 9th from 4-7 pm. Services will be held Tuesday, May 10th at Holy Family Church, Fairmount, where a celebration Mass will be held at 10am. Ellie will be laid to rest with her husband Jim at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, immediately following the services.
