Obituary of Mary T. McCarthy Sammon

Mary T. (McCarthy) Sammon, 76, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully at the Francis House on Thursday, June 23, 2016 with her family by her side. Mary was born in Toomevara, County Tipperary, Ireland to John and Margaret (Walsh) McCarthy. In 1955, when she was 14, Mary immigrated to the states with her family and attended St. Patrick's School and then vocational school. Mary married the love of her life, Brendan in 1962 and raised their 5 sons in Marcellus. Mary was retired from Welch Allyn. Her many hobbies included gardening, sewing, making crafts and music; from Irish to rock and roll. Mary's greatest joys were dancing with Brendan and hanging out with her grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by her parents and brothers, Arthur and Michael. She is survived by her husband, Brendan Sammon, sons, Joe (Bridget), John (Carolyn), Brian, Mike (Jennifer) and Dave (Kim), sister, Bridget O'Hara, 11 grandkids and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, Tipperary Hill, Syracuse. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7pm on Tuesday at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary's memory may be made to Francis House; 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208
