Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard W (Dick) Lane, 63, passed away on 11/13/16 after a four month battle with esophageal cancer. Dick was predeceased by his parents Ed & Betty Lane, His in laws Earl &Jeanne Wallace and his nephew Tommy Wallace. Dick was a loan officer with Syracuse Securities and worked out of the Berkshire Hathaway Real Estate office in Camillus. He attended Most Holy Rosary School until Monsignor suggested that Dick might want to go to Corcoran, where he graduated in 1971. Dick graduated from OCC with a degree in Computer Science. Dick coached Geddes little league baseball and basketball for the Boys & Girls club. He was a good athlete in his own right and was especially proud of his championship CYO team, The Bumblebees, and organized reunions of that team for the past few years. Dick started playing hockey at 42. He loved his NY teams, Yankees, Giants and Rangers and SU basketball. He was at Yankee Stadium with his family when David Cone pitched his perfect game. Dick was a generous man and always said yes if someone needed help. He was also a most forgiving man who was fair and kind. We are all better for having known him. Dick was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather. Other than Peggi, Mike & Maggie, his passion was golf. Since 1998 he has been a charter member of Sunset Ridge Golf Club where he was loved by the gang and made a new set of lifelong friends. Dick was very proud of his Irish heritage. Dick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marguerite (Peggi) Wallace Lane, his son Michael J (Cassie) Lane, daughter Maggie (Scott) Finnegan and his grandson Jack Lane who is the light of his life. He is survived by his brother and best friend Ed (Jan) Lane, his sisters, Pat (Jack) Godfrey, Maryann (Joe) Antuna, Beth Lane and Peggy (Chip) Kent. His Brothers-in-law Jerry (Cyndi) Wallace, Ed (Patti) Wallace, Dan Wallace and sister-in-law Pat (Dennis Whipple) Houser. Also his numerous, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces who loved their Uncle very much. Dick is also survived by the two that came for dinner and never left, Kaitlyn Simone (Matt) Gallagher and Rachel Henderson (Brian) Kelly. Dick made life fun and had a tremendous sense of humor. We ask that no one wear black to the services. Please wear your Irish, Yankee, Rangers, Giants or SU apparel and come to celebrate the life of this wonderful man who was taken from us too quickly.
