Obituary of Margaret (Ryan) Clancy
Please share a memory of Margaret (Ryan) to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On April 4th 2017, Margaret "Peggy" (Ryan) Clancy was called home by the Lord. She grew up in the Strathmore neighborhood as the daughter of John "Jack" and Marian Ryan. She was a life-long communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church. She graduated from Most Holy Rosary school and started as an operator at the phone company while still in high school. This hardworking woman held many jobs throughout her life; working for NY Telephone, ATT Long Lines, Town of Onondaga, Westhill School District, and AXA (Donohue-Mapstone Agency), where she was employee of the year in 1986 & 1992. While she enjoyed her jobs, none of those compared to her life's vocation as a wife, mother and grandmother. She married the love of her life, John E. Clancy Jr., in November of 1962 and they were together from that day forward. After her retirement from AXA in 1995, she dedicated much of her time to her grandchildren. She loved them unconditionally and without bound. She was kind, witty and loving to all those she met. On most days, she and John could be found at daily mass and at Wegmans for their daily coffee.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Kevin Ryan and her nephew, KC Ryan. She is deeply mourned by her husband, John; her children, John (Tracey), Colleen, and Dan (Ann); her siblings, John Ryan and Rita (Ryan) Nann; sisters-in-law Nancy Ryan, Helena Clancy, Gloria (Howie) Soloway and Christine Volles; her grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 3-2 floor at St. Joseph's Hospital and Father Fred Mannara for the care they provided to our parents during these last few weeks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10am at Most Holy Rosary, 111 Roberts Ave. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
