Obituary of Harold E. "Skip" Slack

Harold "Skip" Slack passed away unexpectedly at his home in California on April 3, 2017 at the age of 71. Originally from Syracuse, Skip was a resident of California for 30 years. He was employed by First Student, Inc. of Corona, California as a bus driver for the last 12 years.
Skip was a graduate of St. Lucy's Academy in Syracuse and attended the College of Forestry and CCBI.
He was a Navy Veteran serving as a communications technician aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific during 1965 – 1969.
He was an avid Giants, Yankees and Syracuse University Fan. He enjoyed the great outdoors with its many adventures including hiking the Adirondacks and the great parks in California.
He was predeceased by his parents Margaret L. (Peek) Slack and Harold L. Slack and sister, Judith (Slack) Surace. He is survived by his sisters, Karen Fontanella, Margaret Salvatore and Jeanne O'Leary, 10 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews and several cousins, including his best friend and cousin Thomas (Margaret) Wieczorek.
Skip was a gentle man whose love was sincere. His greatest joy was being with his family and friends. Our lives were blessed for knowing him. Skip was loved by many on both the east and west coasts and will be dearly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, on Friday, May 5, 2017 between the hours of 10AM and 12PM with prayers immediately following. A private burial will be held at Assumption Cemetery.
