I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost someone dear to me some years ago and what brings me comfort during those especially hard days is to realize that death is a temporary enemy (John 5:28,29). So although your time with Richard was cut short, you can have the hope of being reunited with him forever under perfect circumstances here on Earth (Revelation 21:4). In the meantime, even though the pain may at times seem too great to overcome, please know that Jehovah God will give you the strength necessary to endure (Psalm 94:17-19). Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences.
