Obituary of Edward F. Stack
Edward F. Stack passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 30, 2018; three days shy of his 89th birthday.
Eddie was born in the Bronx, NY and moved to Drumerin, County Kerry Ireland at the age of two. Eddie returned to the U.S. in 1949 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951; where he served his country for six years. Upon leaving the Army, he went on to work for Dairylea where he became a business agent for Local Teamster Union 317 for 30 years. Eddie enjoyed golf, SU sports and GAA Irish Football; where he played from 1950 to 1970, until the age of 43. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he adored. He will be known for his beautiful singing voice, especially his rendition of Skibbereen.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary T. (Hanlon) Stack, children; Teresa Stack- Polakiewicz, Mary K. Stack, Thomas E. (Cathy) Stack, Eileen (Brian) Stack-Corsette, and James P. Stack and his five grandchildren; Shannon (Scott) Corsette, Thomas E. Stack Jr., Marissa Stack, John Polakiewcz, and Liam Stack, siblings; Mike (Mary) Stack, John (Sheila) Stack, Beta O’Carroll, Maureen Browne, Kathleen Humbles, Thomas (Kathleen) Stack, James (Stephanie) Stack, Patrick (Carmel) Stack, and Maurice (Veronica) Stack, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 9:30am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Howlett Hill.
