Obituary of Ernest W. Eicholzer

     Ernest W. Eicholzer passed away December 2, 2018 at Elderwood Nursing Home in Liverpool.

     Ernie was born to the late Ernest and Bertha Eicholzer. He was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, graduating from Central High School in 1952.  He retired in 2004 after nearly 20 years at Syracuse Glass Company and spent his retirement years volunteering at the Most Holy Rosary Food Pantry and trying to keep up with the activities of his grandchildren.

     He was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Behan) Eicholzer in 2011.

     Ernie is survived by his sisters, Betty Hollis of Fayetteville and Olga Beers of East Syracuse, sons Andy, Jim (Kara), and Tom all of Syracuse, and daughter Lori (Travis) of Pasadena, CA as well as 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Brendan, Annelise, Lily, Lander, Logan and Lachlan Eicholzer.

     The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ernie’s caregiver, Wilma White, as well as the staff at Elderwood Nursing Home where he received such excellent care over the last 10 months.

     Calling hours will be at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, Syracuse on Friday, December 7, from 4-7pm, with a short prayer service at 6:45pm.  A graveside service will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt on Saturday, December 8 at 9:15am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Most Holy Rosary Food Pantry, 111 Roberts Ave, Syracuse NY 13207.
