Obituary of Leonard E. Fazio
Leonard E. “Len” Fazio, 80, of Bradenton, FL passed away on January 15, 2019
Len was born in Syracuse and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1956. He was a member of the Syracuse Uptown - Downtowners. Upon graduation he attended Arizona State University and later St. Jerome’s College in Kitchner, Ontario.
In his early years and while working as a sales representative for XEROX Corp, as member of the Westvale Optimist Association, he spent time coaching Optimist Youth baseball and basketball. Additionally, he coached St. Charles Grammar School and Syracuse CYO basketball teams. Len was well known on the Westside of Syracuse, bartending for several locations including Top “O” Hill, Mark Tiernan’s, then Fisher’s. In 1970 he purchased Fisher’s, renaming it “The Office” which he operated for nine years. He later worked at Onondaga Beverage Co. for several years prior to moving to Florida in the early1990’s; settling in the Fort Myers-Bradenton area. While in Florida he was employed as a sales representative for a variety of wholesale beverage companies until retirement. While in retirement Len continued to stay busy working as an independent contractor associated with local apartment maintenance companies. He retired totally in 2016 to enjoy the benefits of Florida weather and lifestyle.
Len is predeceased by his parents, Robert A. Fazio Sr. and Maria Theresa Storto Fazio. He is survived by his children; Beth Fazio (Syracuse, NY), Carol (Cole)Taylor (Syracuse, NY), Thomas Fazio (FL), Mark Fazio (FL); brothers, Robert A. Fazio, Martin Fazio (Cathy Turner); 4 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 18, 2019, at 11:30 AM at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, in Westvale. Burial will be private.
Immediately following the Mass family and friends are cordially invited to join in a celebration of life at Tuscarora Golf and Country Club.
