Obituary of Mary R. Murphy
Mary Ruane Murphy, 95, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully with her sons at her bedside on June 4, 2019. Mary was born in County Mayo, Ireland and immigrated to the US on June 7, 1955 with her husband and sons. She retired from Upstate Medical Center where she worked in the operating rooms as a surgical technician. Mary was a long-time parishioner of St. Brigid- St. Joseph Church, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Mother’s Club and a past member of the AOH Ladies Auxiliary.
Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband, Patrick J. in 1969, and four siblings. She is survived by her two sons, Timothy (Ellen) of Liverpool and Michael (Yvonne) of Camillus; 5 grandchildren, Kelly (Rob) Barth, Patrick (Vanessa), and Sean (Siobhan), Sinead (David) Kase, and Keelin (Christy) Irwin; 7 great grandchildren and one expected in July; brother, M. Joseph Ruane, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the B Unit at St. Camillus for their wonderful care of Mary over the last four years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10am at St. Patrick’s St. Brigid’s Church, Tipperary Hill. Calling hours will be held from 9 to 10am prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s-St. Brigid’s or St. Ann’s-St. Charles Food Pantries.
