Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Grillo

     Margaret Elizabeth Grillo “Nana”, 96, of Camillus, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

     Elizabeth was born August 16, 1922 to Russell and Bertha Bush in Syracuse, NY where she was a lifelong resident. Following graduation from Syracuse University with a master’s degree in social work. Betty Continued to love, nurture and protect her own family along with the many children she came in contact with during her career with Onondaga Dept. of Social Services, retiring in 1989 as a Supervisor with the Preventative Division.

      She was an avid reader and a lover of the arts. Betty in her free time could be found tending her rose garden, sewing, quilting and painting seascapes and scenes from her beloved camp on Little Long Lake. She was a fierce advocate for her children, family, friends and all who were less fortunate.

     Betty is survived by her children; John L. (Diane) Foster, Timothy J. Foster, Jeffrey T. (Karen) Foster and Lissa (Al) Tripodi; a brother, Russell B. Bush (Andrea), Greensboro, NC; 9 Grandchildren; 3 Great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.   

     The family would like to thank the staff at Syracuse Home and especially Unit 3 and ask people to remember her with any opportunity you have to “pay it forward” for someone.

     The Family will receive friends and relatives from 10-11 am Saturday June 8, 2019 at St. Paul’s Church, 310 Montgomery St, Syracuse, NY 13202. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am at St. Paul’s Church following the calling hour. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the ASPCA or St. Jude’s Foundation.
