Obituary of Julia Fletcher

Please share a memory of Julia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Julia Rowe Fletcher passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2020, at Francis House. Julie was born in Syracuse and raised in Westvale. She attended Cherry Road School, St Patrick’s, and graduated from Solvay High School. She continued her education at her beloved Marywood College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics. She taught in the Cazenovia school system. While in Cazenovia she was introduced to her loving husband, Charles “Mike” Fletcher.  They were married in 1951, eventually settling in the Camillus area, where they raised their seven children. Julie loved golfing, bridge with friends, family gatherings, and attending various sporting and academic events, especially those that involved her children and grandchildren. She was a long time member at Tuscarora Golf Club, an active parishioner of Holy Family Church in Fairmount, and a loyal member of the Marywood Alumni Association. She always put her family first. She taught us to be strong, loyal, and faithful.

Julia is predeceased by her husband, Charles “Mike” Fletcher, her brother James Rowe and his wife Sheila McClarnon Rowe, Brothers-in-law George and Leo Fletcher, Sister-in-law Marge Fletcher, Cousins Mary Gallivan Colbert, John Gallivan and Timothy Gallivan.

Julia is survived by her children Michael (Cindy) Fletcher of North Carolina, James (Michele) Fletcher of Liverpool, Thomas (Carol) Fletcher, Joseph (Mary Pat) Fletcher, Daniel (Lisa) Fletcher, Mary (Christopher) Cook and Christopher (Lori) Fletcher all of Syracuse. Sixteen grandchildren, Matthew Fletcher, Jennifer Fletcher Stoll, Kelly Majeske, Jessica Schneckenberger, Ryan Fletcher, Erin Fletcher, Lauren Fletcher, Joseph Fletcher, Nicole Fletcher, Megan Cook, Timothy Fletcher, Emily Cook, Michael Fletcher, Katherine Fletcher, Julia Fletcher, Grace Fletcher, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
