Obituary of Jeanne M. Ryan
Jeanne McMahon Ryan died at home on March 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was the daughter of Dr. HA and Marie McMahon.
Jeanne was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary High School and Marywood University. She was a Communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church throughout her life. Her service to her parish included serving as an Eucharist Minister, a religious education instructor, member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Senior Club. She was a head teacher at the Syracuse University Child Care Center from 1976 to 1990. She was an active volunteer of the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center, writing personal thank you notes to all of the donors in the early years and then an active member of the Senior Advisory Board.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Maurice Ryan, son, James J., daughter, Margaret Ellen (Dennis) Murphy, brothers, Dr. E. Paul McMahon, Dr. John McMahon and Robert McMahon. She is survived by her brothers, James ad Michael McMahon as well as her children, Jeanne Brolan (David) of Pennellville, Pierce (Martha) of Syracuse, Maurice (Kathy) of DeWitt, Judy Dikes of Baldwinsville, Robert (Alice) and Dennis (Melissa) both of Syracuse and daughter in law, Mary (James) of Syracuse. Jeanne adored and is also survived by her twenty-two grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, especially summers at their camp on Pleasant Lake in Pennellville. Jeanne is loved by many nieces, nephews, friends and a very special friend of over 60 years, Peg Hennigan.
A special thank you to the staff of the Brookdale Summerfield who lovingly helped to care for Jeanne in her final days.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 10am Most Holy Rosary Church, Syracuse, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
