Obituary of Thomas A. Irwin

Thomas A. Irwin passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021 at his home at the age of 88.

 

 A lifelong resident of Syracuse, he was the son of John T. & Ellen Irwin.  Tom was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy and attended LeMoyne College.  After serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, he went on to have a long career at New Process Gear.  Tom enjoyed golfing, SU sports and being with his family.  He was a communicant of Atonement Lutheran Church.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Mary “Connie” Judge; his brothers Robert & James, and sister Dorothy Abbott.

 

Tom is survived by his children:  Daniel, Timothy & Jeanette, Thomas & Marie, Robert & Eileen, James & Angela, Kelly Ann & Jeff Eckert; his beloved grandchildren Stephen, Rebecca, Kathleen, Melissa, Megan, Connor, Ben, Jack, Kendal, Audrey, Clark, Jillian & Anna; sister-in-law Phyllis Irwin and brothers-in-law William & Susan Judge, Frank & Sandy Scicchitano, along with many nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank his caregiver Jonathan Edwards for the kindness, compassion and excellent care you have given to Dad.

 

Calling hours will be 4pm-7pm on Tuesday, May 11 2021 at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave., Syracuse NY 13219.  Funeral service will be private.

 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a local food bank or charity of your choosing.
