Obituary of John G. Piedmonte, Jr.
John George Piedmonte, Jr. passed away in the afternoon on Thursday, January 27, 2022 surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren in Syracuse, NY.
John was born on August 10th, 1942 in Syracuse, NY and spent his earlier years as a resident of Tipperary Hill in Syracuse. He later moved his family to Baldwinsville, NY where he would spend the remainder of his life surrounded by a community of loving family and friends. He was an Expediter at Carrier for over 30 year, as well as a longtime member of the Onondaga County Special Deputy Sheriffs, eventually becoming Chief Deputy. He recieved the special recognition reward from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office for his service to the community. As a devout Catholic, John dedicated much of his time later in life to his faith and to God.
He is predeceased by his parents, John and Doris Piedmonte.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith M. (Loehr) Piedmonte, as well as his six children, John (Teresa), Kathleen (James) , David (John - predeceased), Lisa (Patrick), Mark (Michele), Margaret (Ron), as well as 17 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his sister, Carolyn (Nibsy) Ryan, and Virginia McDonald and many nieces and nephews.
John was a kind, generous and simple man whose vibrant presence was felt wherever he went. He was frank and lighthearted which always made for a good laugh with others. Even through life’s many challenges, John always found optimism, joy and time to enjoy a cigar. John, your love and legacy will forever be in our hearts.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 9:30am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church; 3494 NY-31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3108 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
