Obituary of David Jacuk
David Francis Jacuk, 77, of Westvale passed away after a long illness on Sunday, February 20th.
Dave grew up on Holden Street in “Skunk City” with his parents, Paul and Helen along with his three brothers, Bob, Don and Gary. Dave graduated from Sacred Heart School and was very proud of his Polish heritage which was often overshadowed by the fact that he married a strong Irish woman, Nancy O’Connor. Dave and Nancy settled on Tipperary Hill and raised 4 children together. He retired after 30 years at “Niagara Mohawk.” Dave’s passion was golf, golf and more golf. A longtime member of Highland golf course he had many stories to tell about his “golf crew,” all of them lifelong friends, along with their wives, who showed tremendous support and patience after Dave lost the love of his life 5 years ago, Nancy, due to pancreatic cancer. Dave was never the same after her death and it brings the family comfort knowing Mom and Dad are together again.
Dave was predeceased by his loving wife of 49 years Nancy, his parents, Paul and Helen, his brother, Bob and sister-in-law, Rita O’Connor Baker
Surviving are Dave’s children Ellen (Bill) Graser, David of Crestone, Colorado, Michael (Mimi), Matthew (Jill) of Syracuse and 9 grandchildren, Justin (Coryn), Maggie, Kate, Luke Graser, Connor, Emmett, Abbey Jacuk and Travis and Tori Jacuk. Dave is also survived by his brothers, Donald (Kathy) of Camillus and Gary (Renee) of California. He is also survived by his in-laws, Tom and Mary Ann Moore, Peter Baker and Joan Jacuk, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday February 26, 2022 at 11am at St. Patrick’s-St Brigid’s Church. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9-11am prior to the service. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Warners.
We would like to thank the amazing people at Crouse Hospital for their compassion and care towards Dave in his final days and of course, to Fr. Kevin, for your many years of friendship.
Contributions can be made in Dave’s name to the Crouse Foundation or to the St. Patrick’s Church, 216 North Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY.
Say not in grief he is no more, but live in thankfulness that he was.
