Walter Edwin VanDerzee, 78, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday May 8, 2022.

He was born in Watertown, NY and grew up in Trumansburg, NY before moving to Syracuse. He was a US Navy Veteran as well as an avid collector of all things Budweiser, a man with heart as big as his temper. The epitome of fashion, he single handedly brought Hawaiian shirts back in style. Walter loved everyone and was loved by all.

Walter is predeceased by his parents Claire & Betty Jean VanDerzee.

He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn, children, Peter (Elizabeth) Smith, Walter, Ginger, Autumn, Sean (Lisa) Smith, Tracy (Chris) Mechowski, David (Nicole) Smith, siblings Gary (Londa), Randy (Betty) and Julie as well as 26 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many cousins nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to www.navymemorial.org
