My sincere condolences regarding your loss. My Dad was Bill Stuff and I remember Paul’s kindness toward my mother when he died unexpectedly in 1975. I was grateful I had the chance to reconnect with your father after the Syracuse Post Standard printed a story of your father who was holding a picture of him and my Dad. My husband and I came to visit him a couple of times and it was fun hearing stories about their initial basic and pilot training. It gave me a chance to ask questions about my Dad that I didn’t have the opportunity to ask before he died. I don’t need to tell you how special your father was but I will say it anyway. I’m sorry I just found out about your father passing otherwise I would have loved to tell you in person how much the visits with your father meant to me. I was glad I was able to share a number of pictures my Dad took of your father and their time overseas together.
Sincerely yours- Lynn (Stuff) Drake

I have very fond memories of Doc and his wife Sybil. My husband built their log cabin in McConnelsville NY. He offered us land so we could be neighbors. We didn't take him up on the offer as we had just purchased our home. Doc & Sybil would take us out to dinner every now and then. We enjoyed listening to the stories about their relationship and how much in love they were. I have never seen 2 people more in love than Doc & Sybil. I remember after I had my 3rd child at Crouse, I had viral pneumonia and was in ICU in an induced coma for 11 days. They didn't think I would make it. After I got out of ICU and went to progressive care, Doc called the nurses station and asked to speak with me. He asked me how I was doing, and if I needed anything just let him know. I told him that I wanted to go home to see me newborn baby and he said "consider it done." Next day they said I could go home! He was one of the kindest men I've had the pleasure of knowing. Rest in Peace Doc....now you can be with your bride for eternity.
Love,
Melissa & Robert Nickerson

To the Stobnicke family, Johnny & I very sorry to read of Dr Stobnicke’s passing. We appreciated his thoughtfulness as our family doctor, and enjoyed seeing all of you in the neighborhood and at St Ann’s. We also used Ed Ryan Funeral Home with our parents in May 2017, so it felt like they were truly brought home to a familiar location.
You are in our thoughts & prayers.
We are sorry to have missed the Funeral Mass in person this morning. I missed the obituary notice.

A couple of years ago I saw an article about Dr. Stobnicke and his time serving during WW2. I sent him a letter telling him that I saw and enjoyed the article and that I realized that I knew him.. Back in the 70's I worked at Syracuse Savings bank in Western Lights as a secretary. Dr. Stobnicke and his wife were regular customers then. During a conversation, he mentioned that he was looking for a boat to use on Tully Lake. I told him my husband and I had a boat that we were selling. it was a 1974 Glastron GT 150. (the same boat used in the James Bond movie "Live & Let Die". It was a beauty. Dr. Stobnicke came and looked at it and bought it. I thought they were a wonderful couple back then, but after reading about his time in the service and his wonderful life and career, I know i was right! He is now with his beloved Sybil.
My sincere sympathy to all of Dr. Stobnicke's family and friends.

Dear Stobnicke Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Dr. Stobnicke delivered me 66 years ago. I was his patient until he retired. He made sure I understood what was going on with my health and I was included in making decisions and participating in getting and staying.
He practiced medicine that way long before it became popular. His compassion and knowledge, his caring was natural and genuine. Seeing him socially was always a pleasure. I thank him for his service to our country, his patients and the community. Though this is a sad time, I am happy that he has gone Home to God.

Dr.Stobnicke was not only our family physician but became a family friend due to his caring and concerned personality toward his patients well being and happiness. I remember well my visits to his office as a child and adolescent until his retirement, I always knew I was in good hands as his confident and caring nature even made visits for shots tolerable. It is fitting that respects will be paid in the same building that he cared for so many of his devoted patients in, a respectful choice by his family to this man of faith and medicine. If God required a Doctor in Heaven, He would find none better and more beloved than Dr.Stobnicke. We will miss him. My Deepest Condolences to his family and all the others that he cared for, and May God Bless him and may his soul R.I.P.
